Hidden deep in sacred scrolls and mystic teachings, Buddist monks have been long held the mysteries of life. I personally have long held the belief behind all the goofiness and singing chickens, there is a certain wisdom within the Muppets. We all see the quaint astuteness of Kermit when he muses “it’s not easy being green” or as he sings of “the lovers, the dreamers and me”; but it runs so much deeper.

The other day I was discussing Yoda with someone who was NOT aware Jim Henson was the genius behind this Jedi Master of the Universe.

This started the wheels turning, leading to quite an epiphany.

The best place to hide something is in plain sight, yes ? Is it possible Jim Henson was in fact a Dahli Lama of sorts hidden among us as a mild-mannered puppeteer?

A Jedi Master could he be?

Perhaps the Muppets are the modern day guardians of the Holy Grail….keeper of life’s answers. I had to know.

I began a quest to prove or disprove my new theory and found the following parallels between Zen wisdom and quirky Muppet banter:

*With understanding, all things are possible

Life’s a movie, write your own ending. -Kermit.

*Practice will teach you what you need to know next

Sure, if you want to do it the easy way – Gonzo.

*Confront challenges with inner strength and courage

Zoot skipped a groove again – Floyd

*Happiness is a process not a destination

I’m on my way to New York to break into Public Television – Big Bird

*Compassion should dominate our thoughts words and actions

I spy because I care – Miss Piggy

*Joyful effort is trying hard and finding pleasure in the exertion

Like, I was totally just tuning up my Harp – Janice

*Cultivate self knowlege

I didnt say it was a good suggestion – Dr Bunsen Honeydew

*On the edge of the forest, live joyfully – Buddha

Gersh gurndy morn-dee burn-dee, burn-dee – Swedish Chef

*Clouds that thunder do not always rain

Express your feelings -unless you are trying to hide something – Miss Piggy

*Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it-Confucius

A vision of true beautology, true sytlisity… how can I put it? True glamorositude. – Miss Piggy

The Question is “What is Mahna Mahna?”……No, the question is “who cares ?” (Statler and Waldorf)

Hit it !!!

Don’t worry, Clark doesn’t follow my logic either.
